Leopard Frog

In this small (5×5) painting we get up close and personal with a Leopard Frog. Leopard Frog, 5x5, $125

I love seeing the frogs around here. It’s a sign of a healthy environment. The call of a Leopard Frog is a low snore followed by several low grunts. Sometimes it sounds like a finger rubbed on a wet balloon. Listen to it on this FrogWatch page.

Sitting still in the dappled grass, the frog blends right in. I had to sneak up on this one to get a photograph before it jumped.

There’s still a little time left for the frogs to enjoy the season before they have to hunker down for the winter in a pond or marsh that doesn’t fully freeze.
