Here are some of my encaustic paintings. I mostly paint on cradled board, so these are ready to hang with the sides also painted.
Encaustic is an ancient technique of painting with heated beeswax, pigment, and damar resin. After applying the heated paint, I fuse the painting by heating again with a heat gun, iron, or blowtorch. Some of these pieces include mixed media, including natural materials, and the encaustic technique provides a protective, preservative layer.
