Autumn is such a great season for paintings. It’s easy to find colourful scenes everywhere I go.
These two paintings were inspired last autumn and were recently finished. “Autumn Marsh” sold on the first day of the Perth Autumn Studio Tour to a buddy from high school days, who I hadn’t seen since then! The Tour this year at the end of September was a great success, although the trees didn’t yet have their full colour on.
Thanksgiving Weekend looks like it’s going to be peak time for fall colour this year. If you’re thinking of taking a drive and hike to see the splendour, consider going to Blueberry Mountain at cliffLAND. This beautiful conservation area offers a 4.5-km out-and-back trail to the top of the mountain, which overlooks Lanark Highlands. Along the trail there is informative signage by The Silver Shingle and many lovely creeks, marshes, and wilderness. “Blueberry Mountain Marsh” was inspired by a walk I took last year up the trail, just before the colours started to pop.
I hope to get back there this year for a hike. All Trails offers a map and more information.
