Two recent paintings

The Perth Autumn Studio Tour was a big success this past weekend. I haven’t even had time to post these two recent paintings and they both sold on the weekend!

Across the Frozen MarshAcross the Frozen Marsh was painted this summer on some very hot days. It felt cool to work on it in the heat! The photo was taken and posted by a friend, Linda Henderson-Myers. She said she thought it looked like one of my landscapes, so I asked her if I could paint from it. Sure!

The site is near Murphy’s Point. One Sunday while I was working on the painting, I drove down to the area and found the marsh. It looked quite different in the summer, but was still recognizable.

Canoeing in the Dumoine Morning MistCanoeing in the Dumoine Morning Mist was fresh off the easel when I framed it before the tour. I worked from a photograph I took at the 2024 CPAWS-OV DRAW art retreat. The Dumoine River is often shrouded in heavy mist in the summer.

This painting is my donation to CPAWS-OV for this year’s retreat, so 100% of the proceeds will be donated to help in their conservation efforts. One of their efforts right now is focussed on “The Gap“, a planned 18 kms pathway between Ontario’s Algonquin Provincial Park and Quebec’s Dumoine River Aquatic Reserve to act as a corridor for animals to migrate while supporting climate action.

These two recent paintings will be off to their new homes soon. Happy Thanksgiving!
