I just finished this painting of a Northern Saw-whet Owl in Cedar. I follow the FeederWatch Canada Facebook group. Rob Mueller often posts great pictures of birds there and when I saw the photograph he took, I asked if I could paint from it. He graciously allowed me to. Thanks Rob!
I have seen these little owls myself around here a couple times, however, I was never able to get a good photograph. It was such a treat to work from such a fine, detailed photograph.

In 2006, I painted this Northern Saw-whet Owl that had bounced off our back window and was in the snow recuperating before it flew off. You can see my source photo was not as good as Rob’s!
Later, in 2017, I recreated it in encaustic paint.
