Landscape painting Robinson Lake

Foggy Lake RobinsonI recently finished this landscape painting of Robinson Lake from the Dumoine River watershed inspired by my time at the CPAWS-OV DRAW artists’ retreat. The image is from early in the morning, before the sun burned off the fog.

The group of artists has been selected for the 2020 retreat. I’m thrilled that I’ll be going back this year. CPAWS-OV has started to update their website to include bios of the artists. The Ottawa Valley Chapter of CPAWS (CPAWS-OV) works to protect public lands in the National Capital Region and surrounding areas. One of these areas is the Dumoine River watershed.

Of course, we’re all wondering if things will be “back to normal” by August to allow us to attend. The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone deeply. Two planned DRAW exhibits this spring in April and May have already been cancelled. Here’s a video of our 2018 DRAW retreat where you can catch glimpses of artists doing landscape painting and me working on an en plein air painting of Robinson Lake.

Stay well and healthy! For now, I’ll be working on landscape painting in my studio or near my home.
