I presented this commissioned portrait/landscape of Ian, Luna, and Sue Canoeing in early March. I painted it from a beautiful photograph taken by a friend of the couple canoeing. Unfortunately, the photographer’s finger covered the ripples below the canoe on the right. Through the magic of paint and imagination, I was able to recreate them successfully. Ian commented he recognized this special spot on Cox Lake immediately.
Cox Lake is mentioned as “a miniature Algonquin” in the Kawartha Highlands, according to The Happy Camper’s Top 5 Canoe Trips.
