I’ve just finished this pet portrait commission of Maya. It’s a small painting, just 8″x8″ to match the size of some other pet portraits the purchaser had.
The story of how Maya came to Canada is fascinating. The person who commissioned this said, “Last year I brought back a puppy from Mexico that we fostered during the winter while there, with the intent to find her a forever home (we can’t keep a pet unfortunately because we travel extensively). I spent 8 months with my precious little Maya and still miss her terribly, although she is now with an excellent home here in Ottawa.” What a lot this little dog went through in her early life! It’s inspiring to hear her rescue story and know she’s in her forever home.
The image the purchaser chose to use “captures her totally… very shy and reserved little girl.” I thoroughly enjoyed doing this painting and looking into Maya’s sweet face while I worked.
The purchaser was very happy with the painting, saying, “I’m thrilled with it! I wouldn’t change a thing.”
See my commissions page on this website for examples of other pet portrait commissions I’ve done.
