There’s just one month until the Perth Autumn Studio Tour on Thanksgiving Weekend is in full swing! Whee!
I’m working hard getting things ready at Studio 3. I hope to finish up this work-in-progress “Coming to the Portage”. I’m working from a photograph I took in 2018 while participating in the CPAWS-OV DRAW retreat. I’d been working on the bridge just above the Grande Chutes on the Dumoine River when I turned to see canoeists coming into the portage. The water is calm where they are but starts to roil and rumble as it nears the bridge.
There was so much inspiration at the Dumoine area during the retreat. I’ve completed many paintings in the studio this year and still have a couple I did en plein air last year. To honour the Dumoine, I’ll donate 20% of the price for any paintings of the Dumoine that are sold in my studio during the tour to CPAWS-OV.
I support CPAWS-OV’s work towards the protection of the beautiful area surrounding the Dumoine watershed and their position the protected area be strong enough to ensure there are no industrial activities, such as logging, mining or hydro-electric development, but flexible enough to allow for continued recreational and Indigenous people’s access.
During the tour, I’ll also have many other new landscapes and encaustics for sale, as well as examples of portraits I’ve done, and pieces commissioned this year.
More information about the tour, including a map of the studios, can be found on our website: www.perthstudiotour.com/. You can also follow us and like our page on Facebook @perthstudiotour for the chance to win a $50 gift certificate redeemable from any artist on the tour this year. Ballots are available during the tour for two more certificates.
Come on out for a beautiful drive through the colourful countryside during Thanksgiving Weekend (October 12-14, 10:00 5:00 daily)!
