This painting of cats basking by the barn was inspired from a source photo taken by Willow Creek Stables and used by permission.
Willow Creek is a not for profit rescue, best known as a beloved home for critically endangered Newfoundland Ponies. Cats George and Lottie also call it home.
Willow Creek offers farm visits by appointment only, pony clubs and parties, and more! They post regularly on their Facebook page so you can follow all their activities.
I rarely paint on square canvases, but this 30×30 canvas which already had an orange underpainting was given to me by a friend some years ago. Coincidentally, she also donated Captain (one of their first Newfoundland Ponies) to Willow Creek. The square format fit this image, framing the cats on hay bales basking by the barn, surrounded with old farm equipment.
