Here are a couple pairs of birds I just finished in encaustic. These are both birds that have recently arrived back in eastern Ontario. A Red-winged Blackbird pair and an Evening Grosbeak pair. We welcome them!


As with all encaustic paintings, the birds take on a life of their own as the heat moves the beeswax medium and colours around!
I think the females, particularly, look like they’re about to fly off 🙂
