Fresh off the easel—Passing Time: Barn with Wooden Silo.
I used to drive past this barn frequently on my way back from town. It was on Christie Lake Road. The structure was torn down many years ago.
I always admired the beautiful muted colours of the wood and marvelled at the artistry and craft of the wooden silo. The tree inside the silo was alive and growing at one point, but at the time the photograph was taken, the branches were bare. A smaller tree and bushes remained tucked in and around.
I worked with permission from a photograph by John Ronson. Some elements were altered :-). Thanks for capturing this scene before it disappeared, John!!!
This painting follows in the tradition of my Tenacious Trees, Ontario Farm Remains, and Lanark Farm Remains. Admiration for both the craftsmanship of beautiful country structures and the power of natural growth with the passing of time to reclaim its place.
